The Cash for Clunkers program has been moving some metal off car dealer lots and that could be good for the economy. But you never know what kind of unintended consequences there might be with a new program. It might not be a good move for the folks who had a nice reliable clunker that was paid off, since they will be trading it for a car payment. This is especially true if the new car they buy does not get significantly better gas mileage than their trade-in. That was supposed to be the point.
And how about all of you who have a car that doesn’t even qualify because it’s too new or too fuel-efficient? Gatto’s wants to give you a little cash stimulus to help you keep your ride on the road.
