 REPLACE OR SERVICE ITEMS
Your vehicle manufacturer recommends that you have the following items serviced and/or replaced at 87,000 miles.
  Maintenance Item
Clean Battery Connections
The battery cables clamp to the battery terminals, providing a path for the transfer of electricity from the battery to the electrical system. These junctions are the Battery Connections. The Battery Connections are prone to corrosion from battery vapors and require occasional cleaning.
Inspect-Lube Body and Chassis
The Body is the exterior or shell of the vehicle. The Chassis is the underlying frame or support for the vehicle body and suspension. Rust proofing, washing and waxing of the body and washing of the underside will help to preserve the vehicle.

 REPLACE OR SERVICE ITEMS (cont.)
Your vehicle manufacturer recommends that you have the following items serviced and/or replaced at 87,000 miles.
  Maintenance Item
Change Engine Oil 8
Engine Oil is used to lubricate moving engine parts and operate some hydraulic parts of the engine itself. Engine oil performs many functions such as cleaning, cooling, lubricating and preserving. The engine oil should be routinely checked for fluid level & condition and replaced if too dirty or lost lubricating qualities.
Replace Engine Oil Filter 8
Engine Oil Filters in combination with modern detergent oils remove most of the abrasive particles that accumulate and circulate through the engine lubrication system. Regular replacement of Engine Oil Filters can help to reduce engine wear, and prolong the life of the engine.
Inspect-Lube Steering Linkage
The Steering Linkage transfers movement from the steering rack or steering gear to the wheels. The Steering Linkage should be inspected regularly to avoid problems with steering, alignment and tire wear.
Rotate Tire and Wheel Assembly
The Tire mounts on the Wheel or rim and contacts the road to provide traction. The wheel bolts to the hub or spindle assembly. Alignment is a big factor in tire wear. Tire/Wheel rotation at regular scheduled intervals will provide even tire wear.

 'CATCH-UP' SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
Items based on the Maintenance Schedule that should have been recommended within the last 30,000 miles
  Maintenance Item
Replace Air Cleaner Filter/Element Every 30,000 miles
The Air Cleaner Filter/Element prevents dirt and other material from entering the engine's intake system. A dirty Air Cleaner Filter may cause engine performance concerns such as low power, poor fuel economy or a rough running engine. Replace air cleaner filters in accordance with manufacturer service schedule.
Service Automatic Transmission 7 Every 30,000 miles
The Automatic Transmission transfers power from the engine to the driving wheels in several gear ranges. It also allows reverse operation. Automatic Transmission Fluid should be changed regularly as prescribed by the manufacturer service instructions to reduce wear of internal parts, and ensure optimal operation of transmission.
Inspect-Lube Ball Joints 9 Every 15,000 miles
Ball Joints allow horizontal and vertically movement of the spindle for steering and changing road levels, conditions and bumps. Some Ball Joints are serviceable and should be lubricated regularly to avoid premature failure.
Replace Fuel Filters Every 15,000 miles
Fuel Filters strain and filter fuel coming from the fuel tank to the engine to remove dirt and debris before it gets to the carburetor or fuel injection system. Fuel Filters become dirty with use and restrict fuel flow this could lead to engine performance problems like lack of power, Hard/No start or stalling. Replace fuel filter if dirty or at recommended service interval.
Change Manual Transmission Fluid 7 Every 60,000 miles
Manual Transmission Fluid is the fluid that lubricates the gears, shafts and bearings in the manual shift transmission . Manual Transmission Fluid condition should be checked regularly and serviced as prescribed by the manufacturer to reduce wear, increase performance and add life to your transmission.

Items based on the Maintenance Schedule that should have been recommended within the last 30,000 miles
  Maintenance Item
Replace Spark Plugs, 4.0L Every 60,000 miles
The Spark Plugs are located in the cylinder and ignite the compressed air fuel mixture in the combustion chamber or cylinder which forces the pistons down. This process is a key part of what makes the engine run. Worn Spark Plugs should be replaced to avoid engine performance concerns such as misfire, lack of power, rough running engine and poor fuel economy.
Replace Spark Plugs, 4.6L Every 60,000 miles
The Spark Plugs are located in the cylinder and ignite the compressed air fuel mixture in the combustion chamber or cylinder which forces the pistons down. This process is a key part of what makes the engine run. Worn Spark Plugs should be replaced to avoid engine performance concerns such as misfire, lack of power, rough running engine and poor fuel economy.
Change Transfer Case Oil Every 60,000 miles
Transfer Case Oil lubricates all internal components of the transfer case such as bearings, gears and chains. Transfer Case Oil should be checked and/or changed in accordance with manufacturer service schedule to ensure normal operation.
