I hope everyone made it through Fay without too much trauma. This was a serious event, one that few of us anticipated. And the high water not only threatened our homes and businesses, it may have also damaged your vehicle.
Let's hope we don't have to deal with this type of problem again for a long time, but if we do, please consider these things:
Not only can speeding through standing water send waves into your neighbors’ homes, water in your engine could mean serious damage and cost. Tires are also at great risk in driving through water because you can’t see what is there. Sometimes you can't even see the edge of streets and roadways. You just don’t know what debris or hazard is hidden under the water.
Driving on the streets in high water is high risk for your vehicle.
Computerized components in engines may need to be replaced, and that can be expensive if several of the components are damaged. Do yourself and your friends and neighbors a favor next time:
Don’t drive unless you must.
Stay out of high water areas. If you are forced to go through high water, do so at the very slowest speed. Beware other drivers who still don’t understand the risks they are taking.
Be wary of any damage your vehicle may have sustained.
Come in if:
>Your car or truck is running bad
>You suspect tire damage
>If sensor lights come on
>If your engine liquids are cloudy
Our guys will diagnose and repair your water-related problems and get you back on the road.
Here's hoping we all get to stay dry for a while.
