You’ve heard the old saying, “no news is good news.”  Well, there certainly has been a lot of news lately.  The stock market, house values, the world economy—it’s just one thing after another.  It’s no wonder that a lot of people just want to crawl under a blanket, curl up in a fetal position and partake of one of our new phenomena, the “staycation”.   That’s where you stay at home instead of going anywhere.

But Thanksgiving is coming up and there is also an irrepressible urge to “go over the river and through the woods.”  Mmmm, I can almost smell the turkey and dressing.  How can this impasse possibly be resolved?  By breaking the cabin fever wide open and heading to Gramma’s house, right after getting the family vehicle ready with a Road Trip Special at Gatto’s.

Yeah, times are tough.  There’s no denying it.  But if there’s a better reason to spend a few pennies than to see family and friends during the holidays, I can’t think of one.   Just make sure your vehicle is ready for the long haul before you head out.  You don’t want your cranberry sauce cooling its heels at some rest stop.  Assuming your cranberry sauce has heels, that is.

Save me a drumstick and drive carefully.
